Drop Modifiers
Every battle-end gear drop check starts with a base chance, then applies a series of modifiers in order. Modifiers are multiplicative unless noted.
Base Drop Chances
| Battle Type | Base Chance |
|---|---|
| Wild Pokémon | ~15% (38/256) |
| Trainer battle | ~40% (102/256) |
Override to 100% (Guaranteed Drop)
These conditions set the drop chance to 255/256 (effectively guaranteed), checked before any multipliers:
| Condition | Trigger |
|---|---|
| Elite Encounter | Rare high-level wild Pokémon flagged at encounter generation |
| Treasure Encounter | The 5% chance wild Meowth special encounter |
| First Blood | First win of each play-hour (resets at nurse heal) |
| Pity Drop | 20 consecutive battles without a gear drop |
Multipliers (applied in order)
After override checks, multipliers stack on the base chance (capped at 255):
| Modifier | Multiplier | Condition |
|---|---|---|
| Corrupted Zone | 3× | Currently in an active corrupted zone |
| Well Rested | 1.5× | Up to 3 battles after healing at a Pokémon Center |
| Ancient Weather Event | 1.25× (varies) | An active weather event with a drop-boosting effect |
| Hunter’s Mark (relic) | Up to 2× | Relic effect scales with rarity (25–100% boost) |
All multipliers are applied with a hard cap of 255/256 to avoid overflow.
Ancient Weather Events
About once per hour of play, the world shifts into a new Ancient Weather Event. An announcement bar appears at the top of the screen when a new event starts.
Six events cycle through, each with its own lore flavor:
| Event | Flavor |
|---|---|
| Ember Storm | Ancient fire stirs the wild |
| Arcane Frost | Crystalline energy sharpens luck |
| Thunder Surge | Electric tension crackles through Kanto |
| Poison Haze | A murky mist carries strange gifts |
| Shadow Mist | Shadows move between the tall grass |
| Temporal Rift | Time slips — encounters grow unpredictable |
Each event applies slightly different effects to battles. Some boost drop rates, some affect encounter composition or rarity. Check the Codex for event-specific details.
Rarity Modifiers (after drop confirmed)
Once a drop is confirmed, these can upgrade the rarity:
| Modifier | Chance | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Lucky Drop | 3% | Bumps rarity up by one tier (Common→Uncommon, etc.) |
| Elite Encounter bonus | On roll < Uncommon | Rerolls once — guarantees at least Uncommon |
| Treasure Encounter bonus | On roll < Epic | Forces rarity to Epic |
Loot Filter (Auto-Scrap)
Set via R button in the EMBER menu. Four levels:
| Setting | Behavior |
|---|---|
| All | Nothing auto-scrapped |
| Uncommon+ | Commons are silently scrapped |
| Rare+ | Commons and Uncommons are silently scrapped |
| Epic+ | Everything below Epic is silently scrapped |
Filtered gear is converted to Gear Shards automatically. The drop still counts for pity reset and total gear found tracking.
Bag Full (Auto-Scrap)
If the Gear Bag (50 slots) is full when a drop occurs, the gear is automatically scrapped into shards. The drop popup still shows briefly so you know what you would have received.
Pity Counter
- Increments by 1 each battle where no gear drops
- At 20 consecutive battles without a drop, the next drop is guaranteed
- Resets to 0 on any drop (including filtered/auto-scrapped)
- Capped at 255 internally
Treasure Encounter (Shiny Meowth)
Every wild encounter has a 5% chance to replace the wild Pokémon with a special “Treasure” Meowth:
- Level is boosted by +10 above the area’s normal range
- Defeating it guarantees a gear drop (100%)
- Drop is guaranteed Epic or better
- Does not apply to Unown encounters
Summary: Stacking Example
A player in a Corrupted Zone, Well Rested, with a Rare Hunter’s Mark relic:
Base (wild): 38/256 ≈ 15%
× Corrupted: × 3 = 114/256 ≈ 45%
× Well Rested: × 1.5 = 171/256 ≈ 67%
× Hunter's Mark:× 1.75 = 299 → capped at 255/256 ≈ 100%
Add an Ancient Weather Event with a drop bonus and the cap is hit even earlier. In the right circumstances, every wild battle drops gear.
